And now we’ll continue taking you on our little journey through 25 years of MBK.
2014–2018: New Directions
In our new, larger warehouse, we were able to expand our product range even further and devote ourselves 100% to maintaining and developing the online shop. Christian joined us in 2014. Some of you will probably know him from our YouTube videos. Christian, too, had long hesitated to give up his secure job in the public sector, but in the end the boss managed to “wear him down” and he simply couldn’t resist turning his hobby into a career. We believe he hasn’t regretted it to this day.
In 2016, we began importing model kits directly from China. Takom was the first brand we imported and distributed to other retailers across Europe. Sven, another passionate modeller, entered the “service of His Majesty” and to this day is primarily responsible for adding and maintaining product listings.
Our first summer festival took place on a relatively small scale. Mig Jimenez was there as our “star guest” and shared his knowledge in a workshop. Visitors also had the opportunity to shop, with beer and bratwurst on the house.
In 2017, things really began to move quickly: We founded MBK-Distribution. This company handles the import and distribution of model kits. Our portfolio soon grew to include many more well-known brands.
That same year, our “picking machine” Gabi joined the warehouse team. To this day, Gabi picks the items you order from our ever-growing product range.
At the end of 2017, we spared neither expense nor effort and had our entire warehouse renovated and thoroughly insulated to modern standards from top to bottom. Operations continued throughout this period despite the sometimes bitter cold.
Then, in 2018, Daniela joined us and began taking a great deal of administrative work off the boss’s shoulders. She quickly became indispensable to both him and MBK and is now an authorised signatory and his “right-hand woman”.
After the warehouse, our web shop also received a major overhaul, facelift and expansion – making everything faster, clearer and, above all, optimised for mobile devices.
By this point, more than 4,000 parcels every month were already leaving our warehouse.

Phase 4 Begins in October
